Anti Wrinkle Treatments

Are you looking for a proven and effective way to prevent the formation of wrinkles and make your face look younger and refreshed?

While ageing is a perfectly natural process, it can make your appearance somewhat jaded and tired. The good news is that our experienced practitioners can apply a number of established techniques to create a natural looking reduction in wrinkle lines that will give you a softer and brighter appearance.

Anti-wrinkle injections have been around for more than 25 years and are becoming increasingly popular for treating wrinkles and expression lines. They can help to smooth lines around your eyes, frown and forehead, enhance your lips and increase volume in your cheeks.

Not merely the preserve of those in their 40s, 50s and up, some young people in their 20s and 30s are now requesting preventative injections to stop wrinkles appearing in the first place.

What are anti-wrinkle injections?

Anti-wrinkle injections consist of natural, purified proteins, which are muscle relaxants that block signals from the nerves to the muscles. With treatment, an injected muscle will no longer contract which results in a relaxing and softening of the wrinkle line to create a smoother skin.

What facial areas do we treat?

The most common areas treated are wrinkles around the eyes (crow’s feet), frown and forehead. These are areas typically exposed to sun over time, making your skin thinner, more vulnerable to damage, and hence susceptible to wrinkle development.

Anti-wrinkle injections may also be used to create an eyebrow lift, reduce a gummy smile (by lowering the upper lip), and stop the formation of neck bands which are caused by the downward pull of muscles on the mouth and neck.

Anti-wrinkle injections also have therapeutic applications in non-cosmetic medical conditions, and can help those suffering from teeth grinding, excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) and multiple sclerosis (MS).

What does our treatment involve?

Treatments with anti-wrinkle injections involve having a small number of needles in the muscles selected for treatment. The needles used are extremely fine and only a small volume is injected.

A personal pre-treatment consultation with one of our qualified medical practitioners will ensure the best treatment plan for you, integrating techniques that may involve dermal filler treatments and anti-wrinkle injections.

The overall balance of your face is very carefully considered when making treatment decisions and our specialists are experienced in applying anti-wrinkle injections to achieve optimal results.

You can rest assured that our treatments will give you a natural look without the undesirable freezing of facial muscles.

  • Are the injections painful?

Discomfort from an injection is usually minimal and well tolerated, with some likening it to that of an ant bite lasting for only a few seconds. Of course, the pain will vary from person to person and on the area being injected. Anaesthetic cream or ice applied to the area prior to treatment can help reduce discomfort.

  • Is there any recovery time needed?

Immediately following treatment, you may experience mild redness and swelling at the sites of injection.
This generally subsides after 24 hours.

  • How long does a treatment last?

Following treatment, you will notice a gradual relaxation of the muscles treated. This can start at 2-3 days and take up to 2 weeks to be noticeable. Treatment usually lasts for 3-4 months, when the muscles will gradually reverse to normal and wrinkles return (no worsening of a wrinkle arises as a consequence of treatment).

  • How many treatments are required?

The more anti-wrinkle treatments that you have, the longer lasting the effects. Treatment at regular intervals of 3-4 months is generally advised. If at any time you decide to cease treatment, your wrinkles will return to their previous state, and do not become worse.

  • What could go wrong?

Any medical procedure carries potential side effects, and these are best discussed with your doctor at the time of your consultation. Possible side effects of anti-wrinkle injections are usually temporary and restricted to the injection site. These might include: drooping of the eyelids, mild bruising, headache, face pain, redness, swelling, numbness.

Our medical specialists have extensive experience in cosmetic practice and customise each procedure to each client’s individual need by listening to your concerns and expectations.
